Weeks 1-4: Beginners
Have you always wished you knew how to sew so you could make clothing and accessories for yourself, or some of those gorgeous craft projects you’ve seen on Pinterest? Perhaps you’ve dabbled with your sewing machine but would love to brush up on your techniques and attempt some more challenging projects.
Who is this course for?:
Sew like a Pro Beginners is for people who are completely new to sewing, or have limited sewing skills they would like to develop. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace on a number of different projects (patterns and instructions provided) to complete throughout the course.
The course will cover:
Ms Symes completed a BA Hons Fashion Design in the UK and has worked in the London and Australian fashion industry for over ten years, specialising in garment product development, garment production, and buying. Courtney comes from a family of sewing enthusiasts and loves sharing her passion for sewing with others to preserve this precious skill.

1. There are lots of online courses and tutorials on sewing, what makes this course different?
Whilst there are many good online resources for sewing, face-to-face learning will help improve your confidence with various sewing techniques, using your specific sewing machine. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace and ask questions throughout the course. This course also provides a great opportunity to meet other local sewing enthusiasts.
2. I’ve never sewn before, will I struggle to keep up?
No, not at all. The course will cover basic techniques and students can select beginner projects to nurture their skills at their own pace.
3. I’ve had some experience sewing and really want to develop my skills. Will the course stretch my ability?
Yes. Once you’ve mastered the basics you can extend your skills with new projects and techniques. Depending on how quickly you work, you could try a new project each week.
Please feel free to email Courtney at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any queries.
