re Volkstanzfest 2017:-

"Good Morning, Friends of Austrian culture

Some of you may know already, that on the Easter Week-end 2017 (15-18 April), the Harmonie German Club will host the 23rd biennial National Volkstanzfest.  This is the National gathering of dance groups nurturing Austrian, German and/ or Swiss folk dancing heritage.

At the moment, there is unfortunately no dancing group at all in the ACT anymore. Nevertheless, occasionally, people have told me of their interest in such folk dancing, so when I read the attached advert [ viz contact phone: 02 6231 4472; email: folkdancecanberra@gmail.com ] last night for a Bavarian Dance workshop this coming Saturday, this sounded like a great starting point to get something good going in time for Volkstanzfest 2017. To stand a chance on getting sufficient numbers, I believe we have to take an inclusive approach and form one group embracing Austrian, German and Swiss dances for the Volkstanzfest.

If you cannot make it this Saturday, but would be interested in either dancing, helping out at the Volkstanzfest or maybe even becoming a sponsor, please contact the Harmonie German club.

Best regards"

"I would like to express my sincere commendation of Mr Martin Callaghan who teaches German as part of your Lake Nite Learning program. I recently completed the German-beginner course with Martin, and having learned other languages before (Spanish, French, Japanese and Tagalog/Filipino), Martin is by far the best teacher I have ever had. His teaching style was structured, clear and concise. He answered all our questions articulately and with confidence. Martin fostered high levels of engagement within our group and gave me an even greater appreciation of not only the German language but also its culture.

I have attended a variety of courses in the Lake Nite Learning program over many years. Instructors like Martin raise the calibre of your program, and I am very grateful for this. I trust that you also recognise his value to your program.

Kind regards - Jennifer" Term 1, 2016 Student
